Announcement by Adam (UsefulTowel)

We've shortened how long we keep mesh data.

The analyzer now keeps packets for 7 days instead of 30, and backups for 3. Here's why, and what it changes.

30 days crossed out, an arrow, then 7 days: our new data retention policy

A few of you asked how long we hold onto mesh data, and what would happen if anyone ever came asking for it. Fair question. We looked at everything we keep and cut it down to what the analyzer actually needs.

Backups made before the change finish aging out over the next few days. After that, the 10-day limit applies to everything. Deletion runs automatically every day.

Why we did it

What's now limited

What we have, and what we don't

The full list of what we collect, from the mesh and from the website, is on our new Privacy & Data Retention page. We'll keep that page up to date as things change.

One heads up: anything sent on a public channel can be read by anyone with a radio, and other sites archive it too. Treat public channels as public.
